Plus Sized Falconer Hardtail Desert Roamer

Ultra-light meet ultra-heavy. This bike was made by Cameron Falconer, originally as his personal bike, and designed as a way to keep up with full suspensions in the Sierras (only without complicated linkages or fancy new age plastic). Of course I thought: "perfect for carrying days of charcuterie and dirty underwear!" Cameron begrudgingly agreed, then proceeded to make me a rear rack even though there weren't any eyelets. That's why the rack attaches to the seatpost, disc brake tab, and thru axle (via a custom machined cap that threads on).

The result is a super planted loaded bike that still rips double black diamonds on tour. This bike has definitely been a godsend at times. When I've been riding all day, hours past dark, starving, cross-eyed, and staring down a mountain pass to camp - it got me there safely. Thank you Cameron for making the downhilly-est black metal shred sled I've ever straddled. The big tires make it nice for sand, washboards, and rocky terrain too.

For the nerds out there, this bike is built around 27.5x2.8” tires and a 160mm fork. It has a 650mm effective top tube, 65º head angle, 72.5º seat angle, 440mm stays, and a 320mm bottom bracket height.

This bike has taken me on the Baja Divide, Oregon Timber Trail, Continental Divide Trail, and many more adventures. It’s a nonconformist born from DIY ethics - a perfect match for the crust punk bar bag I made this summer (same as our Drawcord Handlebar Bag). Also shown here with a Stem Caddy, custom frame bag, Mini Saddlebag, and Pico Panniers - it’s loaded up for the desert touring season. Ready to go nowhere fast ..or somewhere extremely slow.
